Callum McDonagh: I’m looking past the belt, its the next level im focused on

callum wcmma 19 title

Callum Shaun McDonagh is the current WCMMA Champion at 70kg and this Friday night (june 12th 2015) he defends his title against Alexandru Ignat.  Training out of OSF Callum has a record of 4-0 and absolutely loves training even though it can sometimes be hard to train and work but he does the best he can do to juggle both.

Callum got into MMA literally the second he heard of it and it was introduced to him by a friend who showed him a fight.  He was already into boxing but he fell in love with MMA and hasn’t looked back.

With an undefeated record of 4-0 Callum will not only be looking to retain the title but also to keep that record clean.  He doesn’t feel any pressure once he is in there and says it is the last thing he thinks of.

With a good level of knowledge in all aspects of MMA Callum is a good all-round fighter who is happy to fight wherever it plays out.

Unusually, Callum has no knowledge of his opponent or any skills that he has and has no game plan at all.  He is there to fight and he sees his opponent breaking or it being a war because he won’t break and  Callum is always ready for a war!

As the current title holder Callum says he doesn’t feel as though he has the title.  He looks past that and just looks at winning at the next level.

Callum is ready to step up to the next level as soon as his coach thinks he is ready. So we may well see him making his debut on UCMMA in the near future.

Sidni Deans of Mogul Management has this to say about Callum

“Callum is as tough as they come.  He has exploded onto the MMA scene and takes his training very seriously.  He is with a great team down at Oxford Shoot Fighters and his head coach Misiek is also one of the very best fighters in the world and his coaching skills are off the chart. This is shown by how well Callum is doing in such a short amount of time going 4-0 in 2014 and winning the WCMMA Lightweight Title along the way.  If he can stay focussed, I have no doubt in my mind that he will go all the way to the top.  With great hands and a great ground game Callum is a true mixed martial artist”.

With no particular fighter he wants to fight, Callum is just looking to keep winning and challenging himself to see what level he is at.  His long term goal is to be a fighter for a living.

WCMMA is on at The Troxy this Friday night.  Do not miss out on Callum’s war and the rest of the fantastic card.
